Sightseeing along the Gudenaa river
Aale Fen and Uldum Fen
The first stretch between Toerring and Aale Camp of Tent
when canoeing Gudenaa river, is the most winding part of the Gudenaa.
You are navigating through a big flat and wet area of canewood with great many
inlets of brooks. This area has been appointed being an european bird reservation.
Vestbirk Hydro Power Plant
Vestbirk Vandkraftvaerk is a very old hydro power plant
still running and producing electric power. For a group of people it is possible calling up for paying a
visit to this power plant to see the machinery. There is a resting space for the
canoe people side by side with the power plant.

Klosterkanalen og Klostermoelle
(Cloister channel and Cloister mill)
On a last part of a stretch within reaching
Cloistermill, where a monastery called Foer once were placed, you are
navigating through the old monk-excavated channel of about 1300 meter in
length. The monks were digging out the channel in the twelfth century
to exploit the water power to their milling. Canoeing through the channel
passes a jungle-like vegetation and occur as being an adventure through

Sukkertoppen (SugarTop)
Opposite CloisterMill, cross the river, lays
CloisterMill Camp of Tent. After being accommodated here, we recommend
you doing a walk to and up the Sugartop. Sugartop is 108 meter high. From here
you have the most grandiose view over the Mossoe lake and its surrounding
nature. The sugar sweet walk itself takes about an hour up and down.
Tender Cloister at Emborg
Just after Cloistermill you are navigating out on Denmarks next to
greatest lake, named Mossoe. To come back again on the Gudenaa river
you got to keep left. See the menu; Map of river.
Now you are back on the river you will meet Salten Creek a couple of
kilometers forward. Salten Creek runs out in Gudenaa on the left hand
side. If you like to navigate about 500 meter up the creek, you will
come to "Old Ry Camp of Tent". It is forbidden navigating beyond here.
Otherwise, passing Salten Creek navigating Gudenaa to its outlet in
Gudensoe lake. If you then want to visit Tender Cloister, hold on to
the right, and about 300 meter forward you meet a flat sandy beach.
Pulling up the canoe here and follow a track brings you to Tender Cloister.
This Cloister was founded of cister-ciensermonks in the periode of
1172 - 1257. In the next 300 years It was a living cloister having
huge importance with its contemporaries. That all ended in year 1561,
where Tender Cloister on demand of his royal highness, the King,
was all teared down.
Archaeological findings reveals some of the monks were surgeons,
and the cloister were functioning as a care residential and hospital.
To day the area includes, besides the ruin of the cloister, a museum
that exhibit the many exciting prehistoric findings, and a cloister
garden planted with examples of preterite medicinal plants.

Aqua Ferskvandscentret (Aqua Fresh Water Center)
This center is placed almost side by side with "Gudenaas Campsite"

The El-museum at Tange
After "Ans" you are navigating out on Tange lake. Arriving at the other
end of the lake you will see Denmarks biggest Electric Hydro Power Plant,
called Tangevaerket. It was founded in 1921. The power plant bypasses
about 600 millions cubic-meter water per year. Here you got to pull the
canoe over land. Visit the El-museum. Look at their home site here to see what you can expect.
This museum is a funny place; it is told that anything can happen here.
