A canoe adventure on Gudenaa is an ideal vacation for a family and the greater children. And is as active and close to nature as can be. As you progresses on the river, you will see a grandiose nature, and you will meet a lot of different animals and vegetables. Listening, you will hear nothing else, but mothers nature talking. From the great many resting places, camp of tents and campsites along the river, you will have the possibility of getting an upright exercise by visiting the many sights along the river. Sights of which some is of cultural characters, and some of which you can get a feel of by reading here on our site.

On arrival to Toerring
Due to new owners of the earlier Toerring Campsite and Canoe Space. The name has been changed to Toerring Teltplads (Toerring Camp of Tent). Their new homesite is:  www.toerringteltplads.dk
It is still possible to camp. As well as to over night in huts. Though, only a few huts is now available.

Owners of vessel
While hireing a canoe includes navigation permission on the river, owners of vessel (canoe/kayak) must attain a permission for navigating on the Gudenaa river. Apply to Toerring Camp of Tent who is the issuer.

Car parking space

Type of Canoe
As a canoe for hire, the companies in Toerring employs Inkas 525. This is an unsinkable aluminium canoe, which is produced by the swedish company "Linder aluminium Boats". Inkas 525 is the biggest canoe in the companys production line of canoes. It has a weight of 38 kg and a loading capacity of 400 kg. Is 90 cm wide and 525 cm in lenght. And is certified to a manning with 3 adult persons. Two children of both 10 years or below are allowed to substitute one adult person. This means that a family consisting of 4 person, as an example; both parents and 2 children both no more than 10 years old, are allowed to man one canoe.

Canoe packing
The gears to take with you are somewhat related to the length of the adventure you're planing to go on. Especially, if you are new into the field of canoe tripping, you are advised to print out below list of gears. Check this list when packing your gears.
Gears packing and checking list
The gears should be put in waterproof bags, a small and a bigger. The smaller one containing the gears that you often needs to have at hand. Different packing techniques are in use. Some canoe trippers uses a waterproof plastic barrel, most around 30 to 60 litre in size. Take a look at some typical Dry Bags, Packing Bags.

Navigation rules on the Gudenaa river
Be aware that the navigation on the river is going through a sensible natur passing many private areas. We are guests in the natur and culture of landscape. So, the official authoritys made a policy for navigation on the river.

• The stretch from Toerring to Klostermoelle may only be navigated in the periode from june 16 to february 28. The reason for it is mostly that this stretch is going through an european selected Bird Reservation. On this stretch, moreover, the navigation may only take place in the day time between time 8.00 and 18.00 (8:00AM and 6:00PM). On the rest of the stretch, from Klostermoelle to Fladbro (or to Randers), navigation is allowed the all year around. But should be limited to be within day time.
• Speciel inform:
  Canoe people who is sailing no longer than to Klostermoelle, are not allowed to navigate all to Klostermoelle and lay aside canoes there for return to the boat keeper. As boat keepers has no admitance to this area. Instead, about 400 meters before the buildings a special space are made to lay aside canoes for return. This space can be identified by looking up Cloistermill on the map of river, which is a hot spot. This will take you to a google-map pointing to the space by a placed ballon. This space solely has been established for laying aside canoes for return to the boat keeper. When navigating on the river toward this space, look for a "Red bucket" hanging from a tree on the right river side. You can't miss to see this red bucket. The ones canoeing for a longer trip will arive to Klostermoelle about 400 meter forward. Here you'll find a camp of tent.
• Avoid noisy behaviour.
• Canoes may not be tied together in any way.
• Keep a suitable distance between navigating canoes.
• Navigating upstreams is forbidden.
• South of Klostermoelle navigation is allowed only between
  time: 8.00 - 18.00 (8:00AM - 6:00PM)
• Never stand upright in a canoe.
• Always wear a life jacket.
• Keep distance to fishing tackles.
• Keep a safe distance to the routing boats when navigating on the lakes.
• Watch out for the seas in storming weather. Navigate close to -and along the -edge on the lee side of the sea.
• Avoid collision with cliffs, spawning grounds and canewoods.
• Turn to right when passing an opposite navigator.
• Landing is also allowed other places than where canoes are to be brought over land. The countrys laws of invironmental protection of nature has defined public admittance to uncultivated and unfenced areas, included movements on tracks and in woods. But no landing is allowed where the grounds are in private ownership, without the owners allowance.
• Light a fire is only allowed on camp of tents that has dedicated fireplaces.
• Leave litter is forbidden.
